VMA Group, the global executive recruitment and professional development partner for corporate communications, investor relations and HR professionals, has launched a freelance offering as part of its interim practice to meet the growing demand for highly skilled, hands-on contractors.
The freelance practice has four recruitment consultants across external communications, internal communications and human resources, focusing on the mid-level market. The team will work with clients looking to cover maternity leave and long-term sickness, as well as those looking to ease the pressure of an increased workload. The practice sits alongside VMA Group’s interim management team, which will continue to handle senior assignments for professional interim managers.
Sophie Collins will work across the external communications remit, with Carla Phelps covering internal communications requirements and Stephen Glover covering HR. Mary Pidcock will work across freelance communications assignments in the North of England. Vicki Jay, who is head of the interim management and freelance practice said, “While the interim management practice continues to grow, specifically helping clients to manage projects during times of change, we have seen an increasing demand from clients for communications and HR professionals to take on more tactical ‘caretaking’ roles. We’ve also seen an increase in fixed-term contracts – a more attractive option for candidates who see themselves going back into permanent work in the future.”
Claire Tuffin, Group Managing Director of VMA Group, said, “over the course of the past two years we have seen a significant increase in clients who are seeking high quality freelance candidates for their teams across our specialist areas of internal communications, external communications and human resources. These professionals offer clients the chance to enrich their permanent employee base on a temporary basis, or to bring in somebody with the expertise to come up to speed quickly, to cover an absence.”
