Job Title: External Communications Manager

Job responsibilities:

  • Develop outcomes based multichannel communications campaigns that engage our client’s employees, external stakeholders and the media and develop appropriate measures to monitor these outcomes

  • Develop our client’s company reputation across all strategic elements, also in response to regulatory developments

  • Take a journalistic approach to identify and tell stories that will act as long-lasting proof points for our strategy

  • Sharing and cascading communication best practices across the company, building competence and providing training, media kits and support materials for all leaders

  • Engage employees who will also tell our story and amplify our communications stories

  • Develop (guide, train) the role of our most senior leaders and experts as spokes people to talk at events internally and externally

  • Influence key media outlets within our industry and develop relationships with journalists to tell our client’s story

  • Identify the most appropriate internal and external forums for our most senior leaders and/or experts to participate

  • Create messaging with senior leaders for thought leadership and further build our client’s reputation within the paint and coatings industry with impact

  • Coordinate the virtual press office to ensure amplification and sequencing of content across the company

  • Identify trends within the industry, target where our client can contribute to the discussion and amplify these trends internally for our employees

  • Maintain our client’s news room by adding stories

  • Respond to media enquiries

Skills required

  • Relevant experience working in communications (in-house and/or agency) with a clear track record of success

  • Proven track record in developing and implementing strategic corporate communications plans

  • Confidence and experience in issues & crisis management

  • Experience of working with and influencing internal & external stakeholders/bodies and developing partnerships

  • Ability to handle multiple projects under time and resource pressure

  • Native English, or excellent written and verbal English skills with eye for detail

  • Experience of managing external agencies/service providers
