Meet Vanessa!
Having joined VMA GROUP in April, Vanessa Wilbur is our newest recruitment consultant in our London office. With a rich background in the recruitment industry, Vanessa brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our team.
Vanessa’s Career Journey
Vanessa began her career in Malaysia, working for a recruitment MSP. She specialized in roles across functions for a European investment bank and a global manufacturing firm. Her journey then took her to Singapore, where she worked for another international recruitment firm as a consultant focusing on the C&I sector and interim market.
In 2022, Vanessa transitioned to the UK, becoming a specialist HR recruitment consultant in the financial services sector. Her extensive experience and her degree in Communications and Psychology have made her a highly accomplished and trusted Senior Consultant at VMA GROUP, specializing in external communications roles for the financial services sector.
Unique Skills and Personal Touch
Vanessa speaks multiple languages, including English, Malay, Indonesian, and Tamil. While she may not use these languages directly with clients and candidates, her international background serves as a unique selling point. It helps her create bonds with those who may also be from outside the UK.
“It tends to act as a good conversation starter and can also make the chat more memorable as they are able to connect on their common ground. Even having a shared experience such as moving away from home, whether that be a substantial move or not, can have this effect,” Vanessa shares.
