News: IR35 Reform Now Delayed Until 2021
The IR35 reform, initially set to take effect soon, has now been postponed until 2021. This decision comes as a response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, providing relief to many organizations relying on contractors for their communications functions.
Official Announcement
Steve Barclay, Chief Secretary to the Treasury, announced that the IR35 legislation will now come into effect on 6th April 2021. He stated, “Government will therefore not move the original resolution tonight, but will shortly table an additional resolution confirming that we will reintroduce the off-payroll working rule provisions by amending the bill, with a commencement date of 6th April 2021. This is a deferral in response to the ongoing spread of COVID-19 to help businesses and individuals.”
