A significant majority of senior corporate communications managers anticipate increased influence and growth within their functions, reflecting an optimistic outlook for the industry.
Key Findings from the Research
According to the research conducted by VMA GROUP, over 80% of senior corporate communications managers expect their function’s influence to grow steadily across the region. Additionally, 52% of senior communications professionals in the Asia Pacific region foresee growth in their communications function in 2016.
The survey also reveals that 69% of respondents are open to new career opportunities, with 62% considering opportunities and 7% actively looking. This indicates a passive yet positive market for communications professionals.
Insights from the Asia-Pacific Communications Summit
The data was gathered from a survey of delegates at the inaugural Asia-Pacific Communications Summit in Hong Kong, held on 19th and 20th November. VMA GROUP was the sole talent sponsor of the event, which was co-hosted by the Asia-Pacific Association of Communications Directors (APACD) and Communication Director Magazine.
The summit attracted senior practitioners from leading organizations such as Microsoft Asia, American Express, L’Oreal, Bayer, Alibaba Group, and many others. The survey polled 180 conference delegates anonymously, achieving a 40% response rate.
APACD President Pierre Goad, Group Head of Human Resources and Communications at HSBC Holdings, opened the summit. He invited over 220 participants to reflect, explore, and debate the future of communications during the two-day conference.
Expert Commentary
Lisa MacMillan, Head of VMA GROUP’s Hong Kong office, commented on the results: “Without a doubt, this is the most valuable – and hotly anticipated – event in the APAC communications calendar. The calibre of delegates at the APACD Summit makes our latest findings all the more insightful.”
This research supports previous market analysis, highlighting an optimistic future for Asian business and corresponding growth in Asian communications.
