We are seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team. You will be responsible for managing all financial transactions, from fixed payments and variable expenses to bank deposits and budgets. The ideal candidate will ensure our financial records are accurate, compliant with all tax regulations, and provide quantitative information on our company’s financial health and liquidity.
Core Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and publish accurate financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
- Daily Accounting: Manage the general ledger, handle accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR), and perform monthly bank reconciliations.
- Tax Compliance: Compute taxes, prepare and file tax returns (VAT, corporate, personal), and liaise with authorities like HMRC or the IRS to ensure legal compliance.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist management in creating operational budgets and generating financial forecasts to support strategic goals.
- Auditing: Conduct internal audits and provide support/documentation for external auditors to verify financial integrity.
- Analysis & Advice: Analyse financial performance and trends to provide actionable insights and recommendations for cost savings or revenue enhancement.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Certification: Professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or CPA is often preferred or required for senior roles.
- Experience: Typically 2-5 years of professional experience in accounting or a similar finance role.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables).
- Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical thinking, and the ability to communicate complex financial data to non-specialist stakeholders.
