This survey was conducted as the Covid-19 pandemic neared its first confirmed year in Europe. From the start of the crisis, the communications function faced unprecedented challenges. It had to rapidly adapt to safeguard colleagues and employers under immense pressure.
Survey Overview
The report is based on ongoing conversations within the communications industry and a snapshot survey of 120 in-house communications leaders in Europe. In February 2021, these leaders were asked about the skills prevalent in the profession and the current and future recruitment appetite for these skills.
Key Findings
For those who identified gaps in their teams, we inquired whether they are recruiting to build these skills for the future or still facing hiring freezes. The results reveal a demand not only for digital and internal communications expertise but also for other skills.
