VMA Group recently collaborated with communications agency Citypress to conduct research targeting senior communications leaders in the technology sector. The study aimed to explore the role of communications professionals in fostering public trust in technology and how they raise awareness of issues affecting the sector.
Engagement on Sector-Wide Issues
A significant finding from the research is that 75% of senior communications professionals now regularly engage with sector-wide issues, ranging from skills development to technology deployment, beyond their routine responsibilities. This indicates a growing recognition of the broader impact of their roles in shaping the tech landscape.
Challenges & Budget Trends
Nearly 80% of respondents expressed concerns about the lack of a long-term strategy for addressing the skills gap in the tech industry. This highlights a critical area where strategic planning is needed to ensure sustainable growth and innovation.
Despite these challenges, budgets have remained stable over the past year. Almost two-thirds (61%) of participants reported that their budgets have either increased or stayed the same, suggesting a continued investment in communications efforts within the tech sector.
