Job Overview:
A leading UK financial services organisation is looking for a Corporate Media Relations Lead to shape and deliver its financial and business media strategy. This is a senior, hands-on role combining strategic thinking with day-to-day execution in a highly visible, reputation-critical environment.
Based in the heart of the City, you’ll lead proactive corporate media activity, manage communications around key financial milestones, and play a central role in press office and issues response, working closely with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver proactive corporate media strategies aligned to business objectives.
- Lead media planning and execution for major corporate milestones, including financial results, AGM activity and resolution communications.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with business, financial and trade media, as well as consumer groups and industry bodies.
- Act as a senior press office contact, handling journalist enquiries and drafting statements.
- Collaborate with consumer PR, brand, marketing and social teams on integrated campaigns.
- Track media coverage, sentiment and impact, using insights to inform activity.
- Support issues and crisis communications planning and response.
What You Bring
- Strong experience in corporate media relations, ideally within financial services.
- Financially literate, with strong familiarity and confidence in interpreting and communicating financial and results reporting information.
- News‑savvy, with a strong instinct for what resonates with business and financial journalists and the ability to shape stories that will land effectively.
- Strong ability to interpret data, identify trends and turn insights into clear actions.
- Exceptional influencing skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively and secure senior‑leader alignment.
- Proven capability in reputation management, issues handling and high-pressure communications.
- Strong writing skills, excellent editorial judgement, and the ability to tailor messages to different audiences.
- Ability to partner effectively with Finance, Strategy, Investor Relations, Legal, HR, Internal Comms and other key functions.
- Strong network across business and finance editors and journalists.
- Experience managing complex, cross‑functional work at pace and balancing competing priorities.
