Job Overview:
My client, a leading UK financial services organisation, is seeking a Group Head of Media and Issues to lead market-facing communications, financial media engagement and group-level issues management.
This senior role sits at the centre of Corporate Affairs, shaping the external narrative around financial performance, strategy and leadership, while protecting the organisation’s reputation in a highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead group corporate and financial media strategy, aligned to business and regulatory priorities.
- Own media engagement around financial results, corporate announcements and sensitive issues, working closely with Investor Relations.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on media handling, reputation risk and crisis communications.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with financial, business and national media.
- Position senior executives as credible voices through results commentary, thought leadership and profile-building.
- Monitor media sentiment and emerging issues, proactively managing reputational risk.
- Lead and develop a small senior team and manage agency partners to deliver high-impact communications.
- Ensure communications governance, approvals and conduct standards are met in line with regulatory requirements.
The Ideal Candidate Will Bring
- Ideally available to start by March 2026.
- Significant experience in corporate and financial communications, ideally within FS.
- Proven track record managing results, market-sensitive announcements and complex issues.
- Strong understanding of the UK financial media landscape and regulatory context.
- Experience advising and coaching C-suite and senior executives.
- Excellent judgement, discretion and ability to operate under scrutiny.
- Strong leadership capability with a collaborative, commercial mindset.
