Having joined VMA GROUP in April, Vanessa Wilbur is our newest recruitment consultant in our London office. She has an extensive history of working in the recruitment industry having begun her career in her home country of Malaysia, working for a recruitment MSP, specialising in roles across functions for a European investment bank and global manufacturing firm. Since then, Vanessa moved to Singapore to work for another international recruitment firm, as a consultant focusing on the C&I sector and interim market.
In 2022, Vanessa left Asia and began her career in the UK, as a specialist HR recruitment consultant, focused on the financial services sector, before joining VMA GROUP this year. Her previous work experience, as well as her degree in Communications and Psychology, makes Vanessa a highly accomplished and trusted Senior Consultant at VMA GROUP, with her speciality being external communications roles for the financial services sector.
Vanessa speaks multiple languages including English, Malay, Indonesian and Tamil. Though she doesn’t necessarily utilise these languages when talking to clients and candidates, Vanessa feels that by simply being an international consultant almost acts as her USP, as it can help to create a bond with those who may also not be from the UK. "It tends to act as a good conversation starter and can also make the chat more memorable as they are able to connect on their common ground. Even having a shared experience such as moving away from home, whether that be a substantial move or not, can have this effect".
