VMA GROUP Appoints Interim Communications Manager for The Scout Association
The Scout Association is the UK’s largest scouting organisation aiming to engage and support young people in their personal development and empower them to make a positive contribution to our society.
After previously working with VMA GROUP to place their Communications Manager, The Scout Association reached out to us again for recruitment assistance following this employee’s departure. Head of Communications, Hermoine, was searching for support in finding an Interim Communications Manager to make up for the shortfall between the previous employee leaving and the time taken to find a permanent replacement.
Following a briefing discussion with the hiring manager, our Interim Internal Communications Recruitment Consultant, Theo Walsh, was keen to support in finding the best fit for the role.
With introductions being made to change the way in which Scouts operated, it was important for the candidate to have, not only demonstrable experience in a communications manager role, but also change communications experience.
As well as supporting in change communications, the Senior Communications Manager would be responsible for leading and delivering communications strategies, creating and delivering content via appropriate channels and providing guidance and support to volunteers delivering their own local communications.
After a thorough search of the marketplace, Theo came across someone with a history of working in internal communications and employee engagement. Having not done contracting work before, nor moved company for a number of years, they were understandably tentative about reentering the job hunting process. Nonetheless, following Theo’s reassurances and successful interviews, the candidate was ultimately offered the role, which they didn’t hesitate to accept.
