Purina PetCare is a subsidiary of Nestle and has been developing pet food, treats and litter at a range of price points for over 125 years. Producing brands including Felix, Purina One, Dentalife and others, Purina has a mission to ‘help pets and their owners live happier, healthier and longer lives together’.

Being a preferred supplier, Purina PetCare engaged VMA GROUP to support the search for an External Relations Director for their Barcelona based office. The External Relations Director would be responsible for building partnerships across Europe via communications plans and proactively handling stakeholder engagement to positively impact Purina’s reputation and help establish them as the most trusted name in pet care.

It was essential for the candidate to have relevant comms experience with a track record of success, as well as experience working in a FMCG industry. This individual would also ideally be a native English speaker.

Following a briefing with Purina, VMA GROUP’s Doina Grubii began her search of the candidate marketplace and came across an experienced individual who was looking to move in house after previously working in an agency.

The recruitment process was a complex one with lots of strong candidates in the mix, but with the candidate’s experience and Doina’s support along the way, she was ultimately offered the role.
