Senior Internal Communications Manager

A well-known brand in the aviation sector is looking for a Senior Internal Communications Manager on an initial six-month contract paying £65,000 - £75,000 pro rata. The hiring manager is looking for someone to join in September and will be interviewing in August. The role has a hybrid working model with three days required in the office, close to Heathrow airport.

 

This is a brilliant opportunity to join a fantastic brand on a ‘temp to perm’ basis. The role would suit a creative communicator with an eye for detail and exceptional writing ability. It reports into the Head of Internal Communications and has a team of five (two direct and three indirect reports). The successful candidate will have experience of managing small teams, working closely with and advising senior leaders and driving creative communication campaigns.

 

This is a key role in the team, managing the communications for the Customer and Corporate functions, including cabin crew. The successful candidate will need to be creative, pragmatic, calm and strategic, yet happy to ‘get stuck in’ on a day-to-day basis.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • An experienced communications professional trusted to advise on all aspects of colleague communication and engagement and to work in a strategic capacity, fully taking into account internal and external landscapes and agendas and stakeholder management

  • Trusted to provide strategic counsel and guidance to the CEO and SLT members and the confidence to challenge, backing up arguments with robust evidence and data

  • Responsible for planning and delivery of the company’s corporate internal narrative and key messaging, plus creative communications across analogue and digital channels

  • Responsible for deputising for the Head of Internal Communications as required and leading the planning and delivery of engagement and communication campaigns in relation to critical and sensitive business issues including financial results, industrial relations, business restructures, etc

  • Working closely with senior leaders to agree communication priorities, identify opportunities and plan strategically to enable the successful implementation of business projects and change programmes as well as planning, producing and delivering tactical communication and engagement activity in support of business priorities

  • Providing leadership and guidance to managers and executives across the team as well as counsel and advice to the Head of Internal Communications, Chief People Officer and Chief Customer Officer.

 

Skills and experience required:

  • Proven ability to bring business issues to life through creative thinking and engaging campaigns

  • Line management experience with the ability to upskill team members

  • Understanding of communication and engagement best practice

  • Competence in measurement, data, analytics and insight Proven ability to translate complicated messages into simple engaging language
